In 2014, financial advisor Scott Huff suffered one of the most life altering events, just like many others, the loss of his father. While tasked with handling the estate, no matter how thoroughly prepared, it wasn’t easy.
A few months earlier, through the loss of one of the spouses of his long standing clients, assets moved on to another advisor creating a substantial loss of assets under management. Hearing about this on multiple occasions did not resonate until it actually happened. Certainly there had to be a better way to make sure this didn’t happen again.
On the flip side, on a odd connection one day, Scott had encountered a family who had no idea what their mother’s estate had looked like except for the hundreds of documents that cluttered her home. After days of going through hundreds of documents, Scott uncovered millions for the family and gathered millions in new assets.
All of these experiences led to the thinking that there had to be a better way. Scott was the prime example of the disconnected process of estate planning and how advisors handled it within their practice. Since it was becoming more and more of a technological era, Scott was poised to find an all encompassing technological solution that help alleviate all of these issues. While there were many piece meal solutions, there was not one single, simple to use effective comprehensive estate planning software solution.
